What Is Claude SEO?

Claude SEO means two things. One is using Claude, Anthropic's AI model, to do SEO work: research, audits, writing and code. The other is getting a brand into the answers Claude gives. The videos above lean toward the first, and the open-source claude-seo skill is a good example of it. Most of the how-to videos use Claude Code, Anthropic's coding tool, or Claude Cowork for people who don't code. Skills, covered on the AI Skills page, are the usual way to package that work so it runs the same each time.

How Claude Finds Web Pages

Claude finds web pages through a small set of crawlers. Anthropic lists them as ClaudeBot for training, Claude-User for visits a person asks for, and Claude-SearchBot for search. It says blocking either of the last two may reduce a site's visibility. Claude gained web search in March 2025. Anthropic's posts don't name the index behind it, but its subprocessor list added Brave Search that month, and one independent test found Claude's citations matched Brave's results.

How Often SEO Shows Cover Claude

SEO shows barely covered Claude until recently. The SEO TV index holds 130 videos and episodes that mention Claude or Anthropic, from 18 shows, and 118 of them are from the past 12 months.

Anthropic's SEO Lead Job

Anthropic's SEO Lead job got SEOs talking in 2026, since a company building AI answers was paying for search. The posting offered $255,000 to $320,000 a year for organic search across claude.ai and anthropic.com, AI Overviews and answer engines included.
